About Camp Timberledge
Camp Timberledge is a summer camping ministry of the
New York Conference of the Free Methodist Church. It
is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania, and is an
active member of the Christian Camp and Conference
Association.
Philosophy: At Camp Timberledge, our mission is to
offer a quality Christ-centered summer camp program
for the purpose of expanding the Kingdom of God. We
believe that a wilderness camp is a unique setting
to build Christian commitment, understanding, confidence,
maturity, fellowship, and a sense of excellence in
children and youth.
Camp Timberledge does not discriminate on the basis
of color, ethnic origin, disability, race, or gender.
Statement of Faith:
- We believe the Bible is God's written word, uniquely
inspired by the Holy Spirit. It bears unerring
witness to Jesus Christ, the Living Word. The Bible
has authority over all human life.
- We believe that there
is one God, eternally existent in three persons:
Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our lord Jesus
Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life,
in his miracles, in
his vicarious and atoning death through his shed
blood, in his bodily resurrection,
in his ascension to the right hand of the Father
and in his personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for
the salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration
by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the present
ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the
Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection
of both the save and the lost; they that are saved
unto
the resurrection of life and they that are lost
unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers
in our lord Jesus Christ.
Staff: Our staff is comprised of Christian volunteers
who confirm the Statement of Faith (see above), meet
Pennsylvania’s official state standards for working
with youth, are approved by the Camp Director, and
complete Camp Timberledge’s training requirements.
All medical personnel maintain an official license
in good standing for the practice of medicine.
Activities: While our commitment to youth emphasizes
worship, Bible study and spiritual instruction in our
summer camp program, we also feature interactive, age-appropriate
activities designed to broaden the skills and confidence
of campers. This may include archery, boating/canoeing/kayaking,
crafts, drama, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, music,
nature study, riflery, rock/wall climbing, swimming,
and woodworking. Traditional sport facilities include
baseball, basketball, floor hockey, softball, and volleyball.
Cook-outs, camp fires, and camp outs are also an integral
part of our program. And each year, we are committed
to infrastructure upgrades in order to meet our campers’ need
for continued discovery.
Grounds: Camp Timberledge is nestled on 280-acres
of woodland and lakes in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The
20-acre Timberledge Lake is stocked with pickerel,
bass, bluegills, catfish, and wildlife -- beaver,
deer, raccoons, squirrels and birds, including geese
and
ducks -- are often witnessed on the grounds. In addition
to traditional cabins and platform tents, lean-tos
and open-air camp sites are linked together by a
marked trail system.
